-The Twisted Companions of Ai Hibino- Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Hello Another World!

“…Ai…Ai…”

“Hmm…”

“Ai! Wake up!”

“Hyaa!?”

I jump to my feet after being hit with a loud voice hitting my ears

At the same time, *gashan* I made a noise and hit my knee

“Ooh ooh …!”

I involuntarily raised my voice because of the pain.

It seems like I have fallen asleep on my desk.

“Eh …, you’ve been asleep since homeroom, huh?”

It was Mari in an unbuttoned blazer who said to me, slightly stunned.

In one hand, she’s holding a textbook rolled into a simple megaphone. She must’ve been the one who shouted into my ear.

Her voice is loud even without the use of a megaphone.

“Heh heh … but look, Ai-chan did a great job on the PE volleyball final today …”

It was Reiko who spoke with a wry smile while standing behind Mari. Her blazer is tightly buttoned all the way up, and her skirt is long.

Unlike Mari, Reiko speaks in a small voice, and it’s a little hard to hear her, where Mari’s voice is ringing in my ear.

“Well, that’s true. Thanks to Ai-chi, our team was able to win.”

Yumina steps away from Reiko’s side and stands next to Mari. By the way, she has closed one of the buttons of her blazer, but her skirt is quite short. To the extent that “it” could be visible with some movement.

“Yumina seemed to be enjoying her time alone … because of that, I had to work hard for the both of us!”

I complained to Yumina, who responds with a light laugh

Then Yumina turns away and says:

“Hmmm? Is that so?”

Yumina blurted out

“Well, I don’t think it’s good to sleep that much. You might not be training enough, Ai”

“I guess it might come off like that from the point of view of someone who’s on the athletic club.”

I let out a small sigh to her and pick up the bag that was hanging off the side of my desk.

“Well, that might be the case, it was wrong of me to do. I promised to go play after school together, but I ended up falling asleep”

“B … But Ai-chan isn’t in the wrong! I could hardly move afterwards …”

“Mmm, Reiko again!”

I step in front of Reiko, and I begin to stroke her hair

“Hya!?”

“I told you that doing that isn’t good, right? Everyone makes their own mistakes, right?”

“Um, yeah. Thank you …”

Reiko makes an awkward smile at my words.

I smile back at her

“Yeah, after all, your smiling face is cute, Reiko!”

“Ah, thank you, Ai-chan …”

After receiving Reiko’s gratitude, I recomb the hair I had disturbed.

Hair is very important to a girl and should be taken care of

“Okay, let’s go! We’re going to have fun shopping today!”

The four of us are a group of good friends who go to the same high school.

We all have completely different personalities and hobbies, but we’ve been childhood friends, and we’ve been good friends for a long amount of time.

If asked to form a group, we’d form a group, and we’d always study and play together.

We’re so close that it’s hard to imagine much other than the four of us being together.

That’s why even today, the four of us go out to play together.

This “playground” is a large shopping mall near the school.

It’s a common hangout spot for high schoolers, and even some younger junior high students.

“Hmm, what will we do first!”

“Hmm … I want to go to the bookstore. The manga I’ve been collecting releases around this time.”

“Well, isn’t it hard to get excited about a bookstore? Right? If I remember correctly, there should be a batting center here, we should go there!”

“Well, that’s right. Although I am already tired from PE. I would like to check out some clothes rather than go to the batting center. It’s about time for a new summer line to come out.”

Everyone has their things they want to do. Well, all of us have different likes, that’s always been the case.

That’s why, in these situations, I don’t go with any of the options and push myself by going with my own choice.

“I want to go eat ice cream! I want to cool down with something sweet after I’ve worked out!”

“… That’s fine if Ai-chan says so.”

“Well. That is a very good reason.”

“Sweets are a must for girls! Let’s go!”

The three of them readily agreed.

When the choices are split, there are many situations like this, and I’m grateful that we’re still able to play like this.

“Well then, let’s go eat some ice cream!”

So we started to go to the ice cream shop in the mall.

□■□■□

“It was fun!”

On the way home after walking around the mall. The four of us talk as the sun sets on the city while we wait for the traffic light.

“That’s right – I bought a lot of things I wanted to buy, and I’m satisfied.”

Yumina says. Her hands are full of shopping bags.

“I am also satisfied with the manga I got to buy…”

Reiko said in a calm tone.

“I had a lot of fun moving my body as well!”

Mari said with ease

We all went to the places we wanted to go to and played freely. Even though everyone wanted to do different things, it was an enjoyable experience when we were all together.

I want these days to last forever. I sincerely hope they do.

“… and while I was talking about that, it was almost time for the light to turn green.”

I say while looking at the pedestrian traffic lights, and immediately after that, the signal turns green.

We started walking slowly.

But then it happened.

“…..Huh?”

I was speechless

Something incomprehensible appeared in front of me.

“Uh…?”

“Teh…?”

“… What is this?”

At first, I thought it was just an illusion. However, the other three were just as surprised, so it couldn’t be fake.

“Hey, Ai-chi … I wonder if I’m starting to see things?”

“No, it’s not like that … I can definitely see it … I can see the fog.”

Yes, the fog that appeared before us.

In the middle of a busy city, it just appeared.

“Oi oi oi … What’s going on?”

“This is scary … it’s like a horror game …”

Mari and Reiko let out an upset voice. Yumina was also flustered, panic in her eyes.

And, of course, I’m also puzzled.

I’ve never seen fog in this city.

Moreover, the fog is getting thicker and thicker and is even inching ahead, becoming white.

“Everyone! Let’s hold hands!”

I said quickly.

If things were to continue, we would be separated.

“Oh, my god! I don’t know what to do, but I’ll do it!”

Reiko was the first to respond to my words. Reiko dropped the bag containing the manga she had to the ground and holds my hands tightly.

After that, Mari held Reiko’s hand, and Yumina held Mari’s hand. She dropped her bags in a similar way. The only clothes she has now are the ones she’s wearing.

We stood still, holding hands in the thickening fog.

If possible, I hope the fog will clear up soon so we can return home.

I hope so.

However, what happened was different.

The fog cleared gradually. However, the scenery that appeared in front of me was different from what I wanted.

“Is that so…?”

I raised my voice involuntarily. I couldn’t help but raise it.

Because we were standing in the middle of a plain after the fog cleared.

“Whats this….?”

I said while raising my voice.

It seems like Reiko and the others are the same, and we let go of each other before we even knew it.

“… Ah! I understand! It’s a dream! This is definitely a dream…!”

“But is it possible for everyone to be sharing the same dream…?”

Yumina replied to Mari’s words.

Mari’s words have some truth to them. If you were to think about this, this must be a dream.

But the wind blowing over the plains and touching my body and the scent of grass coming from here were too real, and I couldn’t believe it was a dream.

“Could it be …”

Then Reiko says something as if she noticed something.

I try to speak to talk about it.

But in the next moment.

“Ah, look at that! Someone’s coming!”

Yumina cried.

There were certainly some figures in the direction where she had pointed at.

They looked far away and small, but there was no doubt that someone was coming.

“I’m glad … there someone, for the time being … let’s listen to them. Hey!”

I was relieved, then I waved and called.

But something was wrong. The group did notice usbwnd approached up.

However, their size did not increase at all. Their shapes becoming clearer, but their size did not grow beyond the height of an elementary school student.

And I noticed on the way.

That what was approaching us was not human.

“Wh-what is that ….!?”

A small green body, dressed in a barbaric loincloth, long claws that extended from their hands.

It was too ugly to be called a human.

“Kishaaaaaaa!”

When they got close to us, they raised their voices and ran.

We were shocked by the strange sight, unable to move, we allowed them to come straight to our doorstep.

“Hiii…!?”

And when I noticed, their claws were about to hit Reiko.

“Reiko!”

I reacted quickly and embraced Reiko, and fell out to the side.

Then, the little green guy’s claws arrived at the place where Reiko was standing.

“Kyaah!?”

Reiko screamed.

Her whole body was trembling.

“Are you okay, Reiko?!”

“Uh, yeah…! But those guys …!”

Reiko extends a finger

Then, there were the figures of green dwarves surrounding us as if we were prey.

“Oh, this is bad…!”

I say. At this rate, we’re all going to be attacked!

“Wh, what is this! What is this?!?”

“Calm down, Yumina! If you don’t calm down, you’ll die!”

“Even Mari-chi is scared!”

The two people cannot hide their fear. When I saw them and saw Reiko shaking in my arms, my body started to move.

“Ai-chan!?”

“Ai!?”

“Ai-chi!?”

I had jumped in front of my three friends. To protect all three. I had widely opened my arms.

“Well come if you want to come! But only attack me! Don’t do anything to them!”

“Gishaaaaa!!”

A green dwarf rushes me like that. I was prepared to die at that moment.

But …

“Gaaaah!?”

The green dwarf, who was reaching out towards me, suddenly flew to the side.

Looking at the figure that was blown away, an arrow was stuck in its head.

“You, are you okay!”

Then I heard a dignified voice.

When I looked in the direction of the voice, there was a woman in white armor who was weilding a bow on horseback in the distance.

She’s a woman with dazzling, flowing, blonde hair.

Behind her, people in dull suits of armor of various colors were also riding horsed. In addition, there was also a horse-drawn carriage.

“Let’s go! Wipe out those goblins and help those girls!”

As soon as the woman gave the command, the group of armored men rushed in on horseback and defeated the green dwarves -called goblins- one after another. The movement of the armored men made me train my untrained eye on them.

The goblins were exterminated in an instant, leaving only the four of us, the group of armored men, and the woman leading them.

“Are you injured?”

The woman in armor approaches me while horseback and talks to me.

“Yes, yes.”

I answer and go back to everyone.

“My name is Katia Raven, I am the general of the empire. I was returning from a transport mission, but I never thought I’d see someone attacked by goblins in the middle of a plain like this.”

The woman is named Katia.

After she introduced herself, she looked at us with questioning eyes.

“… What a strange outfit. What country are you from? You don’t appear to be citizens of the empire…”

“Empire…?”

That word is weird

What is she talking about? What is this “empire”?

“You don’t know about the empire? These girls are getting more and more strange. Even small children know about the empire, the largest territory on this continent.”

“Goblins… empires… continents… it’s as I expected…!”

Then Reiko said in a tone that she was convinced of something, but trembling.

I noticed her and looked back at Reiko.

“Reiko, do you know something!?”

On the other hand, Reiko looked small as she nodded.

“Uh-huh… I can’t believe it… but it seems like the situation we’re in…”

Reiko nodded and said, as if she had realized it in the confusion.

“We’ve done it… we’ve transferred to another world…!”
